How do you add?

Addition is the process of adding two or more numbers together to find a total.

There are several ways to write addition problems.

 

 

Add 5 and 7

5 plus 7

Find the sum of 5 and 7

5 + 7

Addition problems can be set out either:

  1. Horizontally eg 5+7=12 or 235 + 320 =555

  2. Vertically eg   Vertical sum. 5 plus 7 equals 12   or    Vertical sum. 235 plus 320 equals 555
