How do we take a lineal measurement?

Whenever you measure the length or diameter of an object, you are taking a lineal measurement.

A lineal measurement is any measurement taken in a straight line from one point to another.

If you measure the diameter of a circle, you are measuring the length of a straight line from one side of the circle to the other, through the centre of the circle.
