Find the perimeter in millimetres of a square piece of plate 600mm x 600mm.     

The formula for the perimeter (P) of a square is P = 4s (where s = the length of one side).

Note a square has 4 equal sides.

Substitute s with the length of one side of this square.

P = 4(600)

 

Multiply the side length by 4.

4 x 600 = 2400mm

P = 2400mm
