Find the volume of a rectangular solid

Find the volume in cubic millimetres (mm3) and cubic meters (m3) of a rectangular piece of steel 1800mm x 900mm x 20mm

Rectangular solid 1800mm by 600mm by 20mm

The formula for the volume (V) of a rectangle is V = l x b x d

Where l = length, b = breadth, d = depth

Substitute l, b and d with the actual measurements in this solid

V = 1800 x 600 x 20

   = 21600000

The answer for a volume problem is given in cubic units

V = 32400000mm3

If the answer is to be in cubic meters, convert the measurements to metres before calculating the volume.

V = l x b x d

Substitute values V = 1.8 x 0.9 x 0.02

V = 0.0324 m3
