Nesting: Nesting is a term used in industry to describe how shapes are arranged prior to cutting to get the most efficient use of material.

 



Nesting programs: The middle section of metal that remains unchanged during rolling or pressing.

 



Neutral axis: the centre line in material being formed that does not change shape.

 



Notes: There are two types of notes on engineering drawings - general and local. General notes refer to the whole drawing. They are usually found in the top right hand corner of the drawing. Local notes refer to specific features of the component and are drawn as close as possible to the feature.

 



Numerator: Fractions are written in the form 'a/b'; 'a' is called the numerator, and 'b' is called the denominator.
