A stainless steel rule is a long straight edged tool, available in different lengths, used to mark out straight lines and measure lengths.

How to use it
Place the rule on at least two points to be joined with a straight line and use an appropriate tool eg pencil, permanent marker or scriber, to mark the line along the edge of the rule.

To measure, align the rule with the points to be measured with the zero at one end. Read the number on the metric scale that aligns with the point at the other end.

Where to use it
Used for measuring and marking out on flat surfaces.
